Norwich State Hospital
Norwich State hospital opened in October of 1904, it was originally constructed of just 1 patient building. Over the years the hospital began to grow in leaps and bounds. 30 years later the hospital was comprised of 50 buildings on 900 hundred of acres of land. the entire campus is connected by underground tunnells and walkways. 2 wards on the campus housed the "criminally insane" patients these where more jail-like cells than hospital rooms. in the 1950's the hospital population grew to over 3200 patients.
The Norwich state hospital doors closed in 1996.
