Medicated

I found this pile of medicine bottles on the floor of a childrends phsyciatric hospital. Some where full, some where empty. Most of them where some sort of diaretic, and some where pain killers. I thought it was strange that they where left in the hall like this for anyone to discover. Atleast they where expired!

Cleanliness

This was one of the large public lavatory areas of Belchertown State School. It had an arrangement of hydrotherapy tubs and other strange hygiene devices. I can only imagine how many children would use these facilities at the same time with absolutely no privacy.

A Lost Kirkbride

Once thought of as "state of the art", Kirkbride buildings where a big part of the mental health industry in the latter part of the 1900's. Dr. Thomas Story Kirkbride played a major role in the development of these buildings. He believed in standardizing mental health treatment through living conditions and population control. This theory was eventually called the "Kirkbride Plan". Unfortunately State funding lead these massive structures into the ground.

What you see here is Worcester State Hospital, It was recently demolished by the state of Massachusetts. All that stands is this administration building (which will be re-used in the new construction). This was one of the last Kirkbride buildings left in the northeast. I'm glad i got to see it before it was gone.

The Shaw

This large crane is mounted to the roof of the Iron Horse Train facility. I would imagine when this building was active they would used this massive machine to transport locomotive engines, and other parts throughout the warehouse. The crane runs on a track system along the ceiling that allows it to travel from one end of the facility to the other.

A girl sits on the rocks and admires the view of the York Beach Maine light house. I really enjoy this area, Very Beautifull. Lots of stunning views of the shoreline can be seen from here. Shot with a Canon AE-1 on fuji reala 100 film.

Falling Star

The Galaxy at lincoln park was the star attraction. This big wooden contraption carried thousands of thrill seekers over its rickety slopes. Today the Galaxy slowly deteriorates and piece by piece it falls to the ground. Shot with a canon EOS 3 on Ilford xp2 400.
