Salisbury 4

The name of this ward was the "Salisbury" it housed most of the Male patients along with the Shower room and other utilities. After a large fire back in the early 90's most of the opposing wing to the Salisbury was destroyed and demolished. This wing is the only structure still standing on the campus besides the administration building. i shot this using Ilford XP2 super black and white film.

Very cool image, I like the look of the ilford. Before I read the description I thought "ward" or "prison". Nicely composed.

The B&W are wonderful, and so is the composition

This inscription gives the feeling of a doomed place. Because of the cross form and the old, scratched paint the viewer gets the feeling of an old, phantomatic place. The dropshadow tell that if you'll go left, a dark place is there waiting for you and if you'll go right, you might have the chance to get out; the feeling of the dramatic choice you'll have to make is also given by the street junction form that tells "You're in Salisbury, cannot stay here! Choose your path, choose your damnation road!"

Neat capture. I like the peeling paint and the stenciled word.

IThat is a terrific shot. I love XP2. When it came out it was such an innovation.

First i thought it has something to do with a grave yard or something, because it looked like a cross.
My personal choice is the Ilford PAN F plus (ISO50), but it could be a bit to dark in there ;)
What did you scan it on?

The print of the name firmly remains though paints become bald.
I felt this man patient's vitality.
